Bio Summary:
Annette Mackie is a Concept Artist and Matte Painter based in Sydney,
Australia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Design from the University of
New South Whales in 2000. She began work in the film industry as a Design
Assistant then on to Concept Illustration work. Since then, she has worked
as a Matte Painter and had worked for Bazmark on the production of the
movie “ The Great Gatsby” in 2012.

Early Life/Family:
According to IMDb, Annette Vandenberg started her professional art career
as a cell painter in 1982 for the film“ The Secret of Nimh”. If this is
true, she was between the ages of 5 and 7 years old doing cell painting for
animation. She is presently married to Dale Mackie as of 2008, thus
changing her name to Annette Mackie. Dale Mackie is also a Concept Artist
and Designer. She currently has two children, a girl named Ariana and boy
named Neive.

Annette Mackie finished High school from Jetty High, Australia (also called Coffs Harbour High School) in 1995.

She completed her Bachelors of Design degree from the University of New South Whales in 2000. This degree consisted of Environments, Object and Graphics . Her Final for her Bachelors in Design was to help with the Art Department designing the 'Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Career Outline:
Annette Mackie has a long list of great works in her career as an Artist.
Even at young age that helped exercise and influence her style/technique,
she begins as a cell painter and checker for a variety of animated films
such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Little Mermaid and also Oliver and
Company. These projects were before finishing High school. After completing
her undergrad degree in design, her works entail a highly detailed visual
design for matte painting. Matte painting is a technique used to replace
backgrounds with a representation of a background. These stylized
backgrounds can be of a landscape, set, or location that allows filmmakers
to create an illusion of an environment that is not existent in real life
or would be to expensive to film in a real location. Some of these films
consisting of Matte Painting and Concept Art created by Mackie were
“Knowing” “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “Ghost Rider” and “Harry Potter”.
Annette Mackie’s last job creating concept illustration was on the film
“The Great Gatsby” release in 2012.
