Bio Summary:
David Rosen was born sometime around 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. When Rosen became older he joined the military. He served during the Korean War from 1949 to 1952 and he spent most of the time stationed in Japan. While he was there he started an art-focused company called Rosen Enterprises. The company started off with portraits and photomat Ids which required the use of machines. He made some improvements to the photomat machines which improved to their functionality. This better functionality benefited the business and more people were willing to work. The photomat places became very popular—popular enough to become a franchise. Having become a franchise, the popularity took a dive in a relatively short amount of time.. In 1956, he took his first step into the early stages of the game industry by bringing arcade games to Japan. By that time he changed the company's name from Rosen Enterprises to “Service Games”, which was otherwise known as “Sega”. The arcade games were a hit and really boosted the business of his photomat centers. As time went on, Sega's focus shifted to videogames in which they began to publish games and create consoles. Their first game, Periscope, was created in 1966. Rosen remained as the official Chairman and CEO of Sega from 1965 to 1996.
